Street Ministry

In Luke, Chapter 10, Jesus sent 70 of his followers out in pairs to places where Jesus was going to come. The mission statement from Jesus was simple: “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few”. The 70 were sent with instructions to heal the sick and to tell all that the Kingdom of God has come near. The 70 returned rejoicing over what had taken place. Jesus responded that He had given them authority over all the power of the enemy, but that we should rejoice not in this, but that our names are written in heaven. As with the 70 in Luke 10, the first century church was a church of God’s presence. They carried God’s presence with them and everywhere they went amazing things happened. The Good News was spread, people were saved, lives were radically transformed, gifts and signs and wonders followed them, captives were set free, prayers were answered, the sick were healed, and even the dead were raised to life.
Carriers of God’s Presence is a ministry that believes God continues to empower the church to do the things that the early church did. Like the 70, we go to the inner cities of Birmingham and Bessemer and other locations seeking hearts that Jesus wants to touch under the same mission statement: “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few”. We are proclaiming the Kingdom and praying for the poor and downtrodden. Men, women and children are encouraged to join us.

These are the questions that Mark Marx of HOTS (Healing On The Streets) recommends.

1. Excuse me, do you mind if I ask you a question?

2. If God could do one miracle for you, what would you ask him to do for you?

3. What is the greatest miracle God could ever do for you?
